UI Design for Videogames
Interface design that transforms gaming experiences, combining visual aesthetics with strategic functionality
The Value of UI
Impact on Experience
A well-designed interface is invisible when it works correctly, yet critical for player immersion. UI communicates vital information without interrupting gameplay flow, intuitively guiding user decisions.
Monetization & Engagement
In free-to-play games, the design of offers and reward systems directly impacts conversion. An attractive and clear UI can significantly increase engagement and purchase rates.

Creative Process
The design process began with wireframes focusing on the daily reward calendar as the central element. The final iteration embraced warm, vibrant colors and golden accents to establish premium value perception.

Final Design

Creative Process
Designed for a GameJam. The pixel art aesthetic required careful consideration of legibility at low resolutions. Initial sketches focused on minimal menu structures. The challenge was balancing nostalgic pixel art charm with contemporary clarity standards and fast assets creation. Multiple iterations refined the logo treatment and decorative bat sprites to create atmosphere without cluttering the navigation.
→
Tested various pixel grid constraints to find the sweet spot between retro and readable
→
Developed a limited color palette inspired by classic 16-bit era gaming systems and time restriction.
→
Created symmetrical composition with decorative elements that reinforce game narrative
